Research Project 2000 Manual
2001 Supplement

NAPAA produced an extensive four-part research project in late 1999 that included:

  1. The results from a mailed survey to approximately 5,000 companies who offer promotional allowances programs in a wide range of industries.
  2. The results from telephone interviews with the six largest manufacturing companies in 20+ industries, to determine how they negotiate MDF with their customers, how they customized programs, trends they foresee, best practices, and case histories.
  3. A customized profile of 22 leading retail categories today, providing a quick study of trends, key accounts, consumer appeal, and support requirements.
  4. An analysis of manufacturers' published promotional allowance program structural "norms" for approximately 50 categories of business.

This 125-page Manual was mailed to TPMA members in July 2000.

In early 2001 trend information was obtained to produce this 2001 Supplement.  It updates Parts 1, 2, and 4.  For Part 1 a quantitative survey was produced to obtain updates to selected questions asked in the 2000 Study.  For Part 2, data was gathered through phone interviews with 100 companies in 20+ industries..  Part 4 data directly compares with data found in the 2000 Manual, showing trend changes.

The 53-page 2001 Supplement can be used by itself but is of greater value if used in conjunction with the data provided in the Research Project 2000 Manual.

The 2001 Supplement was mailed to all TPMA members at no charge in June 2001.   Additional copies are available to members for $250 each.  Non-members may purchase a copy for $500.  Copies of the Research Project 2000 Manual are available to non-members for $1,000 each.
